Dr. Harmandayan received her medical degree from the University of Toronto in 2006 and completed her Adult Psychiatry training at the Mayo Clinic.  She completed a subsequent fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at Mayo and joined the Minneapolis VA Health Care System in 2012.  She served as the Mental Health Medical Director for the VA’s outpatient clinics in southern Minnesota, and concurrently earned her MBA through the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.  Dr. Harmandayan joined PrairieCare in November 2015, spearheading the adult IOP and outpatient programs at the Rochester site.

Dr. Harmandayan’s areas of interest include medically complicated mental illness and increasing the availability of mental health treatment in communities through integrative and liaison work with primary care providers.  She is a member of the American Telemedicine Association and seeks to improve mental health access through the utilization of telepsychiatry.  Dr. Harmandayan serves on the Minnesota Psychiatric Society’s Executive Council as the Early Career Representative and additionally serves on the Minnesota Medical Association’s Health Care Access, Financing, and Delivery Committee.

Dr. Harmandayan is trained as a classical pianist and is also an avid mountaineer, taking an active role in the Sierra Club in her time outside of work and helping to preserve the beautiful landscape offered by the Mississippi river valley.
