Michael holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Augsburg College. He joined PrairieCare in 2014 working in the Partial Hospital Program, a role he maintains in addition to seeing clients in an outpatient setting. Over the past seven years, Michael has worked in residential treatment, in homes, and community based agencies with a wide range of clients providing mental health services. His background includes working with children, adolescents, and adults providing behavior management and analysis, counseling, psychological education, and case management. A majority of his experience with youth has included family work in addition to individual and group work.
Michael has a strong belief in the significance of relationships and how they play a role in one’s life. He recognizes the importance of the relationship between therapist and client and uses this relationship to create a safe/comfortable space as a catalyst for change. Michael is passionate about his work, values his clients and their experiences, and has an inviting, nurturing, and fun personality. Michael’s interests include working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families using an integrative and collaborative approach based on the client and their unique circumstances. He has an attachment lens while incorporating skill building, solution focused, DBT, family systems, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral approaches to therapy.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife, dog, and friends, while staying active any way he can, playing hockey, and taking advantage of the outdoors. Additionally, Michael seeks balance in his life and appreciates cooking, listening to music, watching movies, and relaxing at home.
