Benjamin Tyvoll is the Spiritual Care Coordinator for PrairieCare, working with children, adolescents and adults receiving specialized mental health services. As the Spiritual Care Coordinator, Ben has developed and implemented strategies to provide comfort and understanding to patients and families through spiritual exploration and growth. His contributions to the continuum-of-care offered at PrairieCare allow for a comprehensive and integrated treatment approach to meet the multi-dimensional and complex needs of patients receiving specialized care. Ben possesses the unique ability to build rapport with patients and creating a safe therapeutic environment necessary for healing.
Ben graduated from UW-Stout with a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies/Psychology. During his time spent in undergraduate studies, he worked with youth in his church as a pastoral intern and developed a passion for helping youth and adults find a safe and healthy place to “plug-in” and find community, encouragement, support and safety.
Dr. Spicuzza has practiced in the Twin Cities since 1996. She has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings; in hospitals and in private practice. Dr. Spicuzza joined PrairieCare Medical Group in 2009, where she specializes in comprehensive neuropsychological assessment of children and young adults. She works to clarify a child’s unique cognitive, emotional, and behavioral profile to identify relevant diagnoses and guide intervention planning. Her primary goal is to provide a thorough picture of a child’s functioning to better help that child succeed.
Emily has worked for more than 25 years in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric programs and with a variety of patient populations. Her approach to treatment is to provide a safe place for support and provide useful tools and strategies that her patients can use to move through difficult times and heal from or learn to cope with their mental illness. When working with patients, Emily specializes in individual, group and psycho-educational therapies. She also uses creative modalities such as art therapy, journaling and movement therapy.
Jane Hull has practiced counseling for twenty seven years in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She has worked with clients of a variety of cultures and backgrounds. She provides a safe environment for the client to focus on improving coping skills for current problems and aids them in resolving the stressors and traumatic events of the past as well. Her treatment methods include problem solving, goal setting, Cognitive Behavioral Techniques as well as emotional processing with Eye Movement Desensitization /Reprocessing and Guided Imagery Resolution.
Jeanne has been a part of the PrairieCare team since 2007 and serves as the Site Supervisor of the Woodbury location. She continues to work with adults in the intensive outpatient program as well as provide assessments to children, adolescents and adults. She has clinical interests in depression, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions in young adulthood. Jeanne believes in meeting patients where they are at and that developing a connection with individuals is the cornerstone to work in the mental health field. She also continues to enjoy utilizing psychoeducation both individually and within the group setting as a way for patients and families to gain a better understanding of themselves and mental illness and learn a multitude of new ways to cope. As site supervisor, Jeanne strives to allow the teamwork of different professionals and disciplines to come together to provide excellent patient care that supports individuals and families on their healing journey.
Dr. LaBreche has worked as a psychiatric nurse since 1997 with numerous experiences in community, correctional, and inpatient arenas. She returned to graduate school in 2004 to pursue higher education that would allow further certification to provide advanced care to patients and was awarded her doctorate degree in 2007. Her philosophy of treatment is pretty simple - less is sometimes more and plans are individual. She provides psychiatric evaluation and on-going medication management for a variety of people who present with various issues. Dr. LaBreche chose to work within the mental health field because it is rewarding to make everyone's treatment plan both holistic and individual. She enjoys working in a partnership with her patients to make the most out of their treatment and help them achieve their goals.
Lora is a therapist in Prairie Care’s Woodbury Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults. Lora has been a psychotherapist for over 25 years. She is a leader in healthcares’ emerging field of Integrative Medicine. She is a transpersonal psychotherapist, lecturer, writer, and teacher. Lora worked in Washington, DC for several years as the Associate Director of the Center for Mind-Body Medicine (CMBM). She continues to work as a senior faculty member for the Center’s Professional Training Programs.
Mike has worked as a Psychologist in private practice in the Twin Cities for the past thirty years. During that time he has conducted evaluations for local school districts, taken referrals from physicians, mental health professionals and parents as well as conducted independent evaluations for county and state programs. Mike works with patients of all ages and with a variety of conditions including: ADHD, Developmental Disabilities, learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral issues, Autism Spectrum Disorders, substance abuse, head injury, mental illness and personality disorders. His assessments focus upon providing psychometric test results and diagnostics impressions that can be utilized to: clarify diagnoses, educate the patient and care providers, guide care and treatment, as well as to facilitate program planning. He works in collaboration with patients, parents, teachers, physicians, therapists, and others to formulate a comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan.
Dr. Richardson has been in private practice for the past 16 years, specializing in outpatient and acute inpatient psychiatric care. He has extensive experience in diagnosing/treating complex psychiatric/ medical cases, correctional psychiatry, and Bipolar Disorder. He is also on the faculty of the University of Minnesota Department of Psychiatry. In addition to his work at PrairieCare, Dr. Richardson also serves as the adult psychiatry service chief at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN.
Dr. Kennedy believes that treating an individual with mental illness or chemical dependency involves far more than finding the right medication. He derives great satisfaction from working in a field that involves getting to know his patients in a comprehensive way and in which he can demonstrate his genuine commitment to helping them finding a resolution or improvement for their mental illness which can lead them to an enhanced quality of life.
In addition to his position at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine as Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Division Head of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Kumra consults with child and adolescent patients at PrairieCare’s Woodbury Clinic. Throughout his career he has demonstrated his passion for helping children and adolescents who struggle with mental illness not only by providing direct patient care, but also through his contributions to scientific research. Dr. Kumra has published a large body of scholarly articles related to child onset schizophrenia and other psychiatric illnesses.
As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Stacy has experience working with people of all ages and especially within the context of family. She has worked with children and adolescents who have severe emotional disorders. Her clinical work has primarily been in working with multi-stressed families with cross-generational mental illnesses. Stacy practices from collaborative and strength-based therapy models. She is trained as a Play Therapist specializing in working with kids and families dealing with a variety of presenting problems. A native of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, Stacy enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and watching movies.
Tom is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with seven years of counseling experience. Tom provides a safe and respectful environment in which to collaborate on specific issues and more general life problems. His focus is working with adolescents and adults with anger, depression, and anxiety. His therapy style combines a number of counseling approaches, including narrative, cognitive behavioral and solution-focused therapies. These therapeutic philosophies focus on helping the client to feel good about themselves, to find ways to change behaviors, and to establish meaningful connections to their values, hopes, and dreams. Tom enjoys being with his wife and four-year-old son, playing golf, taking day trips to small towns, and playing cards with old and new friends.
