Shalene Kennedy, MD

Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Dr. Kennedy has always enjoyed working with children and selected Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as her specialty because of the shortage of Psychiatrists providing care to children with mental health diagnoses. She derives great personal and professional satisfaction from working with children who need psychiatric services the most. Dr. Kennedy places great importance on a team approach to providing care to ensure that her patient’s biological, psychological and social issues are all addressed in an interconnected way.

Dr. Kennedy has been in practice more than 10 years in a variety of settings and with a variety of patients, including those in juvenile corrections and children suffering from mental and physical disabilities. She is committed to playing an active role in solving the crisis in children’s mental health services by providing direct care and also by acting as a mentor and teacher to others committed to working with children. Dr. Kennedy believes in the healing power of animals and uses a therapy dog in her outpatient practice.
