Dr. Hannah Chau joins PrairieCare in September of 2021 after five years working as a registered nurse in the acute adult mental health unit at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Graduating with her BSN from University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2016, she worked in the adult unit for two years before starting to pursue her doctorate in 2018, while still working full-time. She then completed the program and received her licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2021. As a RN, Dr. Chau had a variety of roles, including working as a charge nurse, an education nurse, as well as providing nursing input during provider rounds. While pursuing her doctorate, Dr. Chau completed clinical hours working within the PrairieCare system as she assisted in the outpatient clinic and Adult Intensive Outpatient Programs at the Woodbury and Brooklyn Park locations.

Dr. Chau will be working primarily with adults and finds passion in providing care to diverse communities. During her time at Mayo she was a diversity and inclusion instructor for the nurse residency program and was the chair of the Multicultural Nurses Mayo Employee Resource Group, both of which helped lead diversity initiatives. In addition, she strives to understand the cultural aspects of patients’ mental health care as that affects how they perceive and receive treatment.

When Dr. Chau is not working, she enjoys traveling, playing board games, watching movies, and crafting.
