Dr. Stephanie Litsheim joins PrairieCare in March of 2021 with over a decade of nursing experience working in various healthcare settings, including six years working as a BSN at the Forensic Mental Health Program in St. Peter. Stephanie started her career in nursing working as a nursing assistant, as a teenager, and has worked her way through the nursing ranks. She received her RN degree in 2009, BSN in 2014, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Psychiatric Mental Health in 2020. Throughout her nursing career, she learned about mental health treatment and medication management from a nursing perspective and worked with a multitude of different mental health populations. Her NP training was primarily in an outpatient setting as well as working within an intensive DBT program.
While working within the high patient acuity setting of the Forensic Mental Health Program, she has learned the ability to calmly and effectively assist patients in crisis situations. Her primary goal as an NP is to build a rapport with her patients to gain a trusting relationship. She is interested in the collaborative team approach to mental health treatment to view the patient holistically and effectively assist them in their treatment.
In her free time, she enjoys working on home renovations with her husband, spending time with family and friends, traveling, and taking weekend camping trips.
