Vickie Parsons received her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner degree in 2008 from the University of Minnesota. Obtained an additional disability and policy certificate caring for Children with Special Health Care Needs from the Institute on Community Integration during her graduate school education. Her master’s thesis explored the impact of family communication on metabolic control in adolescents with attention problems and aggressive behaviors. She is board certified to care for children of all ages, as well as board certified as a Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist. She has experience with assessing, diagnosing, and managing developmental, behavioral and mental health concerns. In 2012, Vickie was the nurse practitioner chosen to receive the Presidential Award from the Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners in Minnesota. This award is given for leadership and excellence of care while demonstrating a passion of caring for children and families. Vickie is active in community service and participation in community events. Throughout her career caring for children in southern Minnesota, she has strived to fill the needs of the community. Has helped to develop the only camp for children for diabetes in Minnesota, serving as the camp director and medical director.
Vickie enjoys connecting with children and adolescents, developing their strengths to maximize their health. She enjoys working with families in a collaborative setting. She feels passionate about providing patient centered care within collaborative multidisciplinary team provided in the intensive outpatient program. She enjoys learning and currently is a student in a post master’s program to obtain her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification.
