Laura joined PrairieCare in 2011 working in the Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) primarily in the social work role, leading psych education groups, completing intake assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and providing resources/referrals on a multi-disciplinary team. She is a clinical supervisor for social workers seeking their higher level license. Since her start at PrairieCare she has pursued additional opportunities for further learning such as completing the Leadership Development Program and a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program.
Laura provides both individual and group therapy through PrairieCare Clinic. She provides a weekly Women’s Therapy Group held on Thursdays from 2:45pm-4:00pm at the Woodbury location. The group is appropriate for those struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, shame, work stress and more. Its purpose is to provide a safe environment surrounded by other women navigating similar challenges/stressors. This group is a welcoming place to find support and encouragement as well as to gain increased confidence, explore dilemmas, challenge negative patterns, and implement effective coping strategies for an overall more balanced and enriching life.
Laura’s therapeutic approach in both her individual and group therapy work integrates cognitive behavioral techniques, psychodynamic, person-centered, solution-focused therapy in providing a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore issues, identify/implement skills and to be heard and understood.
Outside of her professional life, Laura enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially over a hot cup of coffee. She enjoys taking small road-trips to discover new places, good food, taking walks and painting.
