Bachelor’s Degree: Gustavus Adolphus College
Licensure:Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Mary comes to PrairieCare as an LMFT with over 10 years’ experience as a therapist working with families that have experienced trauma and some form of child abuse, as well as over 20 years working with children ages 3-18 that have behavioral challenges in various settings. Mary has worked in day treatment and school settings with individuals that are receiving IEP services, as well as facilitating groups for both adults and children. She has also created a yoga/drumming/mindfulness group for adolescent girls that have survived sexual trauma.
She uses a strengths-based approach in helping everyone understand how their struggles have prevented them from accessing their internal power. Her focus on systems illustrates to the client how family and society play a role in most personal dynamics. She loves to incorporate creative interventions that are client-driven, using art, music, mindfulness, movement, and play into the daily work of repair with cognitive-behavioral, sensorimotor, and experiential modalities.
Mary enjoys walking outside with her children, gardening, and creating music and art.
