Dr. Ghassemi is originally from the Chicago area. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Chicago and she completed her medical degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. She travelled to the great state of Minnesota, where she completed both her Adult Psychiatry residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Ghassemi served as a co-chief fellow during her final year at Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Ghassemi believes it is a privilege to be trusted by patients and their families during a time when they are most vulnerable. She believes that in order to effectively treat mental health disorders, evidenced-based medicine and a physician-led collaborative care approach must be used to fully address and understand the underlying biological, psychological, and social factors affecting patients and their families.

Dr. Ghassemi has broad clinical practice experience in psychiatry that includes work with developmentally diverse patient populations. In addition to treating children and adolescents, she has expertise in treating mood and anxiety disorders that affect women during pregnancy and post-partum period.

She is dedicated to assisting struggling patients and families in improving overall function, reaching their full potential, and resuming their developmental trajectory.
