Dr. Mooney joined PrairieCare in July 2017. Prior to joining PrairieCare, he served on the faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota for over 10 years, where he achieved the rank of Associate Professor. He has more than 50 peer-reviewed publications to his credit. There he helped to develop a program in First Episode Psychosis. His clinical practice focused on individual and group psychotherapy with patients experiencing severe and persistent mental illness. Additionally, he conducted psychological assessments in these same patients to ascertain strengths and weaknesses to inform treatment planning.
At this time, Dr. Mooney works in the Center for Neurotherapeutics at PrairieCare’s Edina location. He conducts individual and group psychotherapy and psychological assessment in patients with psychosis, particularly first episode psychosis, and complex neurological problems.
