Master’s Degree: Master of Science Art Therapy and Counseling
Bachelor’s Degree: Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education
Licensure: Pursuing LPCC

After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education, from the University of South Dakota Elizabeth felt prepared in the pursuit of her Master of Science degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from Eastern Virginia Medical School. Throughout her graduate program, Elizabeth completed three internships that prepared her for work here at PrairieCare. Elizabeth’s experience within the hospital, school, and residential behavior health center provided the knowledge for working with youth living with mental illnesses. She thoroughly enjoyed her internship at the residential behavioral health center, which sparked her interest in working as Art Therapist within the PrairieCare continuum of care.

Elizabeth’s approach to art therapy is through a gestalt, person-centered lens. She meets the patient where they are at and allows them to guide their experience through art making and creative processes. Through this approach, Elizabeth is able to walk alongside the patient in their mental health journey to explore healthy communication skills when words are not enough.

Outside of providing therapy, Elizabeth enjoys making art for herself and exploring nature through hiking and backpacking.
