Joel has worked in children’s mental health since 2004. His experience includes community mental health case management, in-home and outpatient therapy and day treatment programming including supervising the day treatment program at Washburn Center for Children. Most recently, Joel was working for an intermediate school district as a mental health specialist supporting students, families, and teaching staff across the district, along with consultation and training work to the 14-member school districts.
Joel’s experience has primarily focused on working with children, adolescents and their families who are struggling with challenges related to trauma and/or chronic toxic stress. Joel believes in a relational, patient focus approach to therapy work. He has experience using Dr. Anne Gearity’s Developmental Repair model as well as CBT and trauma focused CBT practices.
In Joel’s free time he enjoys time with his family being outside, hiking, kayaking and snow shoeing/skiing in the colder months along with watching and playing soccer.
