Joni is a Clinical Social Worker who has worked in the mental health field for the past five years. Prior to working at PrairieCare she was an outpatient therapist within a Rule 29 county clinic setting. She has experience with individuals starting as young as age 4 through the life span. She is comfortable working with people of various backgrounds.

Joni describes herself as having a passion for continuously seeking new and innovative approaches to treating mental health issues. She has been trained in and uses a variety of methods including; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Experiential Play Therapy, Filial Therapy (non-directive parent/child modality to assist with strengthening attachment/bond and clarify issues within the parent/child relationship), and Sand Tray. She is in her first year of working towards her Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Certificate from the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute (SETI). Joni’s areas of interest include working with developmental trauma, shock trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety/Depression, Parent/child relationships and Attachment Disorders.

Joni has resided in the Mankato community since 2003. She enjoys all the River Valley has to offer throughout the various seasons. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two sons and husband and being outdoors as much as possible.
