Melissa is a Clinical Social Worker who has worked in the mental health field for the past 10 years. She began her career working as a personal care attendant for children on the Autism spectrum and supervising visits between children and their non-custodial parents. She was a middle school social worker for two years before joining PrairieCare in January of 2015 working in both social work and therapy roles.
Melissa enjoys working collaboratively with other treatment team members to solve problems associated with mental health symptoms. She believes in giving children, adolescents and families the opportunity to explore their individual thoughts and emotions in a supportive and safe environment. Melissa comes from a strengths-based perspective and uses compassion, creativity, and humor in her work. Her therapeutic approach integrates cognitive-behavioral techniques, psycho-education, psychodynamic and solution-focused strategies.
