The PrairieCare Institute was founded in 2014 to support PrairieCare’s spirit of innovation. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of PrairieCare, LLC, the PrairieCare Institute is intended to amplify PrairieCare’s vision of transforming psychiatric care through education, research and charitable giving. The focus is on creatively pushing the boundaries of preconceived notions and expanding the frame of reference for what is relevant to psychiatric work. This includes going beyond psychiatric diagnosis to health and wellness generally, and into depth-psychology, understanding social, historical and cultural factors impacting mental and physical health.
It is our belief that in order to promote wellness and treat mental disorders, we must recognize all aspects of an individual’s mind, body and spirit. By embracing this holistic belief, we are better able to provide collaborative care aimed at long-term wellness and self-sufficiency. In order to achieve this vision, our efforts require principles in adaptive leadership and building and nourishing relationships among health care providers.
