Specialty track for healthcare professionals offered in Rochester:

“In dealing with those who are undergoing great suffering, if you feel “burnout” setting in, if you feel demoralized and exhausted, it is best, for the sake of everyone, to withdraw and restore yourself. The point is to have a long-term perspective.” – Dalai Lama

In a fast paced and frequently stressful healthcare environment, we often do not practice what we preach to our patients. PrairieCare Medical Group is proud to offer a specialty program designed for healthcare professionals. This program provides an intensive, evidence-based, and clinically relevant curriculum addressing the complex biopsychosocial and spiritual needs of the healthcare professional. Topics include compassion fatigue, burnout, vicarious trauma, managing therapeutic boundaries, shame resilience, work/life balance, defense mechanisms, mindfulness, affect regulation, and improved awareness of the dynamics between healthcare providers and their patients. Therapeutic support is customized to individual participants’ goals and can include individual, marital, and family counseling. Treatment planning is dynamic and patient-centered.

Program features include:

  • Weekly individual psychotherapy follow-up with a licensed therapist
  • Weekly follow-up and as needed pharmacotherapy with a board-certified psychiatrist
  • Daily group psychoeducation and psychotherapy
  • Small group sizes to optimize patient focus and personalization
  • A weekly Balint Group that is incorporated into programming
  • Telepsychiatry to home/practice, providing ongoing confidential outpatient care

PrairieCare Medical Group offers discrete and confidential care, focused into four weeks of intensive outpatient programming, with convenient hours to offer minimal work disruption – particularly important given the demands faced by healthcare professionals.
