PrairieCare is proud to support teens taking on stigma!

Feb 05, 2016 by admin

Wayzata High School students have taken it upon themselves to take action against stigma.  Two years ago PrairieCare was approached by a teenager wanting to change the culture at his school.  He had lost friends to suicide, and decided that it was time to take action.  He started a group called H.E.A.R.T – Helping Every At Risk Teen.  The group came to PrairieCare for youth leadership development training where they learned about mental illness, options for treatment, how to have difficult conversations, and about the importance of self care.

From this training the students got to work creating positive change in their school. H.E.A.R.T. not only hosts wellness weeks at their school, they have now created this video. Check it out and learn more about mental illness and how to stop the stigma!
