Medication Management

Medication Management is provided by a licensed prescriber, which may be a Psychiatrist or Clinical Nurse Specialist. These staff members are highly trained and integrate the management of specialized medication to alleviate symptoms and complement the other treatment modalities.

Process Group

Process Group is offered daily and is run by program therapists. The group process is utilized to help alleviate interpersonal and social dysfunction, to develop communication and relationship skills, to develop identity with allegiance to a group of peers, to increase understanding of illness and coping options, and to foster pro-treatment attitudes and behaviors.

Recreational Therapy

Recreational Therapy groups are run by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). RT groups use a variety of activities to educate patients on leisure, life skills, social skills, coping skills, anger management, stress management, conflict resolution/problem-solving, teamwork, and other topics. RT groups may consist of: art projects, music, games, physical activity, skits, worksheets, discussions, or other creative modalities.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation is typically facilitated by Licensed Social Workers. This group makes use of various treatment modalities to introduce, discuss and practice the use of coping skills. Some topics include “Reframing”, “Frustration Tolerance”, “Assertive Communication”. This group is experiential, discussion based, or lecture style –depending on the topic at hand for the day.

Nursing Group

Nursing Group is offered twice a week and run by an RN. Topics are based on healthy living, including nutrition, sleep, hygiene, stress management and more. This group is experiential, discussion based, or lecture style –depending on the topic at hand for the day.

Social Skills

Social Skills is offered twice a week and led by Psychiatric Technicians. This group allows patients to practice coping skills learned through programming in real life social situations. Patients play games, complete art projects, all while having staff available to coach them through social situations that may cause emotional distress.

Goals Group

Goals Group is facilitated daily by Psychiatric Technicians has the purpose of focusing patients to work on a specific goal related to their treatment plan. Each day patients determine a goal to work on for the day.

Wrap Up

Wrap Up is the last group of the day provides a time for all patients to gather and go over the day. Staff facilitate this group through checking in with patients about their goal for the day and a high and low, or asking a fun question – such as “Name your favorite summer activity”.

Check in/Vitals

Check in/Vitals is done every morning for patients receiving Partial Hospital Program level of care. They have their temperature and blood pressure taken. This is also an opportunity to connect with staff and “check in” about their evening. Patients can bring up anything of concern, or an accomplishment related to their treatment.

School and Education

School and Education services are provided by ISD 287. Each classroom is staffed with a teacher certified for regular education and special education, and K-12 certified. Teachers work with the students “home school” to have work sent back and forth to help students stay on track academically. Students work on an independent study model, seeking one to one assistance when needed.

Spirituality Group

Spirituality Group is facilitated by Pastoral Care staff and integrates concepts of spirituality within psychoeducation. This group does not focus on any particular religion or customs, but broadens the topic to invite a variety of views and safe discussions among group members.
